COVID-19 (Cornanvirus) special rules now apply for people visiting NHW. For current restrictions please view COVID-19 information for patients, clients & visitors.
The Critical Care Unit (CCU) is an Intensive Care, Coronary Care and High Dependency Unit specialising in the care of patients with complex conditions that require continuous monitoring and treatment. Patients are cared for by an intensivist (critical care physician) and a team of experienced medical officers and nurses.
Our unit may be very noisy when busy. It is normal to hear alarms, phones and a lot of talking as we discuss and plan patient care.
We will explain your loved one’s condition and treatment plan with you. If you have any questions, please ask our nursing staff.
There are no fixed times for the Doctors rounds, so if you wish to speak with a doctor, please let staff know.
Our nursing staff are available 24 hours a day to provide advice or assist with any difficulties you may be experiencing.
We can help you contact a friend, relative, social worker or member of the clergy to discuss your concerns.
Trained Pastoral & Spiritual Care staff are available to support our patients and their loved ones. If you would like to speak to our Pastoral & Spiritual Care team, please call +61 (03) 5722 5217 or ask one of our nurses.
